This is great information for anyone having trouble with the credit bureaus in getting them to remove something that shouldn't be there.
I had a similar situation occur with my own credit report. Couldn't get the credit bureau to cooperate and remove incorrect information on the report. After I contacted the CFPB through the FTC website, the information was magically removed by the creditor and credit bureau within just days. That was amazing, and this tip could help you, too.

“What to do When You Can’t Get a Credit Report Corrected”I tell my clients to go online to access the laws that deal with these issues:www.ftc.gov then check out the Fair Debt Collect Practice Act (FDCPA).Three months out diligent calling and email the creditor and credit bureaus these prospective home buyers couldn't get a paid collection account to show as paid or settled. What is worse they kept reporting the derogatory information each and every month which kept hurting the credit scores. When they came to see me, they shared this unbelievable story with me, I shared the above information with them. They filed a complaint online and shared the necessary information about the obligation being paid. It took three weeks for the obligation to be off the credit report.I have no clue why this company gave these folks such a difficult time and I wonder how much longer they would have waited if the FTC didn’t get involved. We are now ready to get their refinance done, something they have been wanting to do for months.image courtesy of stuart miles/freedigitalphotos.net
